The School Layout Re-Designed

Academics: Academics

In Arcadia Schools, the classroom is the heart of transformation. A design with breakout rooms surrounding a large classroom allows for a variety of student configurations and guided, small-group work.

The Grade-Level Block

  • Each grade-level block includes four cohort rooms in which students take: ELA, ELA 2, Science, and Social Studies

  • Advisory groups meet in breakout rooms across the grade-level  block

  • Support staff: Outside of the classroom, we have SPED staff, college counselors, internship coordinators, and guidance counselors to support students.

The Classroom

  • The Expert/Lead Teachers open and close instruction for the cohort of 60 students in the main space.

  • During data breaks, the teacher team works in the main space to collaboratively grade student work and prepare for the second half of the teaching block.

  • Each Classroom is comprised of two main parts: Main Room and the Breakout Rooms.

Math Classroom

  • Because students enter high school with a wide range of math credits and skill levels, we implemented a traditional classroom model for math instruction. This approach allows us to provide clear pathways for students to complete required coursework, recover credits if needed, and accelerate when ready, ensuring that every student receives the support and structure they need to stay on track for graduation.

Electives and Common Spaces

  • Electives: Students have access to a range of electives, including foreign languages and a variety of art classes such as music, dance, studio art, and theater. Through partnerships, we offer additional specialized courses that expand with the interests and needs of our community.

  • Physical Education: Students participate in physical education classes five times a week.

  • Cafeteria: Each grade level has a designated lunch period to ensure a smooth and organized dining experience for students.

  • Auditorium: The auditorium is designed to house our full student body and staff for school-wide events and performances.

  • Outdoor Space: Outdoor areas are available for student gatherings, activities, and informal recreation.
